STEM Career: Agricultural Engineer

Agricultural engineers bring technology to traditional agriculture, elevating and improving methods for livestock and crop production, storage, processing, preservation, aquaculture, and other areas. Their goal is to improve yield, safety, and available feed and food supplies. These engineers may introduce advances in existing machining, create new equipment, and design state-of-the-art facilities. They also study ways to assure water quality and pollution management.

Tools of the Trade

Computer aided design systems, well-equipped research labs, global positioning systems

Education Required

A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or biomedical engineering
